Delete Your Gaydar Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your Gaydar account and the data associated with it, what data is deleted, what is retained, and for how long.

Option 1: Delete from inside the app (recommended)

Open the Gaydar app and sign in.
Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation.
Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the top right.
Tap Account.
Tap Delete Account.
Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Your account will be immediately deactivated and queued for permanent deletion.

Option 2: Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, email support@gaydarapp.com from the email address or phone number on your account and include:

The phone number associated with your Gaydar account
Your display name (if known)
The subject line: Delete My Account

We will verify your identity and process the request within 30 days.

What data is deleted

When your account is deleted, the following is permanently removed from our production systems:

Profile information (name, age, bio, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, preferences)
Profile photos and videos
Verification selfie and verification status
Chat messages, photos, voice notes, and reactions you sent
Matches, likes, passes, and zaps
Location data (GPS coordinates and last-known location)
Email address and phone number
Push notification tokens and device identifiers

What data is retained, and for how long

Data	Retention	Reason
Soft-deleted account record (anonymized user ID only)	Up to 90 days	To allow account recovery if you change your mind, and to prevent abuse (e.g., ban evasion).
Transaction and billing records	As required by law (typically 7 years)	Tax, accounting, and financial compliance obligations.
Trust & Safety records (reports, bans, moderation actions)	Up to 2 years	To protect other users and enforce our Community Guidelines.
Aggregated, anonymized analytics	Indefinite	Cannot be tied back to you; used for product analytics.
Backups	Up to 30 days	Encrypted backups are rotated out on a rolling basis.

Permanent deletion: After the 90-day recovery window, all personal data listed under "What data is deleted" above is permanently purged from our production database and storage (including photos and videos in our media storage).
